Sexually Transmitted Infections - Information and Treatment Options


Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), or venereal diseases (VD), are bacterial, viral, protozoan, or parasite infections that are transmitted from person to person through sexual contact. The more common STDs are:

  • Human Papilloma Virus
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Herpes
  • Trichomoniasis

It is recommended that women be tested for STDs annually until age 25. After that, one may consider testing if there is a change in sexual partners.
